I'm linking to this page again, as I have just discovered that tibicos is a wonderful (fantastic, stupendous, colossal!)soaking agent for soaked grain bread. (If I use the tibicos, I don't have to use any yeast!) ANYway, in reading the additional comments since the last time I was here, I was thrilled, and impressed by your smartness...I had ALWAYS heard not to ferment using honey but the truth of mead never occurred to me. Thanks to you, I will be giving honey a try in our tibicos soon. Once again, Thank You!Cindyleehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07353062627670212659noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9107407872053300555.post-89584792338186415142012-12-22T01:45:43.195-05:002012-12-22T01:45:43.195-05:00Thanks for the information, I am now more extensiv...Thanks for the information, I am now more extensive knowledge because I just knew it.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17432637676198829472noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9107407872053300555.post-55654842208274807922012-10-04T06:07:14.921-04:002012-10-04T06:07:14.921-04:00Honey is only antibacterial in it's UNdiluted ...Honey is only antibacterial in it's UNdiluted state. A kombucha scoby is a large mushroom-like shape, the tibicos are tiny, and many of them. They both contain a different mix of bacteria and yeasts. I have not made kombucha, as I do not care for it (it actually makes me feel ill!) but from what I have read, it takes much longer to brew than tibicos (aka: "water kefir".) Also kombucha requires tea, water, and sugar. Tibicos doesnt use tea, just water and sugar (or fruit juice as the sugar source.) ~pixxhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17450782803117082547noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9107407872053300555.post-91610353124074656152012-08-27T19:12:43.646-04:002012-08-27T19:12:43.646-04:00How different is this from making kombucha? How different is this from making kombucha?Raederlehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17388803926470907739noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9107407872053300555.post-23263090003468652972012-06-09T18:54:25.221-04:002012-06-09T18:54:25.221-04:00Can you eat the tibicos? Can you eat the tibicos?Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14254627171115184576noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9107407872053300555.post-6255660418708545882011-06-09T18:49:36.530-04:002011-06-09T18:49:36.530-04:00Thia, I made it 'your way' and it's gr...Thia, I made it 'your way' and it's great and wonderfully fizzy every time. I was taking classes from GNOWFGLINS and was instructed there to NOT wash grains. Anyway, I still haven't, but it's turning out great, regardless. The muscavado sugar is a real wonder! Thank you so much for sharing this. I am passing your site along to someone else today. :)Cindyleehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07353062627670212659noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9107407872053300555.post-7205618880313620982011-05-10T17:01:50.303-04:002011-05-10T17:01:50.303-04:00Sounds interesting. So, from time to time, I use a colander-like strainer (with small holes) when I rinse them off.

I don't rinse them often (certainly not each time) because you do loose babies that way. But it is good to rinse away any buildup of sediment from time to time.

Oh~ and always use chlorine-free water when rinsing (or for anything when making this!)~pixxhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17450782803117082547noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9107407872053300555.post-85077843795908821352011-05-09T22:21:14.666-04:002011-05-09T22:21:14.666-04:00Thanks, Clee! :)

I'm wondering how you store your excess? and does it get cycled through use, or just sit? Do you rinse your grains?~pixxhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17450782803117082547noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9107407872053300555.post-49447519954857492472011-05-09T08:17:33.175-04:002011-05-09T08:17:33.175-04:00Totally agree re: photo uploads!
